Wreake Valley Sixth Form students Charlotte Oldham and Lauren Pirie-Scott were amongst a group of young people chosen to take part in the ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ project. The projects aim is to continue to educate people in what can happen if prejudice and racism become acceptable. The girls met with a Holocaust survivor and learnt about pre-war Jewish life. They then visited sites, including the concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau, and museums in Poland. Upon their return Charlotte and Lauren presented an assembly to all Sixth Form students about their experiences and plan to teach a Year 9 lesson shortly.
