‘Macbeth’ an extract with a character or theme based question about the whole play.
‘A Christmas Carol’ an extract with a character or theme based question about the whole novella.
Paper 2. May 21st 2020
2 hours 15 minutes
‘An Inspector Calls’ is a choice of two questions about a character or theme (no extract given)
Anthology Poems – one poem is printed which you have to compare (from memory) with another poem from the AQA Power and Conflict Anthology
Unseen Poem – two poems that students are very unlikely to have seen before which need to be compared.
Students need to have detailed knowledge of the following for ‘Macbeth’, ‘A Christmas Carol’ and ‘An Inspector Calls’:
- Themes (necessary for poetry too)
- Context (necessary for poetry too)
- Terminology (necessary for poetry too) g. similes, personification, oxymoron, onomatopoeia, juxtaposition, superlative, pathetic fallacy etc
